ABOUT

Veronica Maccari is an actress, writer, and filmmaker from Monza, Italy whose intelligence, quirkiness, and creative courage shine in everything she does, on and off camera.

She is skilled at navigating genre-defying dramedies with her unique brand of humor, wit, and vulnerability. She borrows from Sarah Goldberg’s intensity in Barry, Emma Stone’s spunk in Easy A, and Betty Gilpin’s fragile fierceness in GLOW. Her range goes from raw Italian-based shows like HBO’s My Brilliant Friend (whose lead role she had auditioned for!) to more comedic series like Hulu’s Shrill or soaps like Freeform's Good Trouble. As an award-winning filmmaker and performer, Veronica infuses her work with the tenacity and resourcefulness that come with being a global citizen who has traveled the world as an international-level sailing athlete prior to her acting career. She has brought risk-taking performances to life on all media and stages, such as at the Broadway Comedy Club, Tribeca Performing Arts Center, Shakespeare on the Sound, and Hudson Theater’s hit Off-Broadway show My Big Gay Italian Wedding.

Additionally, Veronica produces, writes, directs, and stars in her own film and theater projects. Her most recent short film, Polly Pocket, which she produced, wrote, and starred in as the lead, has been selected by 16 international film festivals and has won four awards so far, including Best Actress. Currently, she is in pre-production for an original web series she is set to star in and direct. Veronica studied at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA) in New York City and then in Los Angeles, where she earned a BFA in Performing Arts. She has worked on a variety of commercials, plays, and movies on both coasts and continues to do so.

As a fierce advocate for female and gender-nonconforming individuals of all races, Veronica’s dedication is fueled by the pursuit of thought-provoking storytelling that challenges the audiences’ expectations of womxn characters and, subsequently, of the womxn around them in real life.
